#30: Oh, the Irony
The irony surrounding the fire hydrant’s lost patent, consumed by the element it was designed to combat, is a funny twist of fate. I don’t actually know a lot about free hydrants, except how you’re not supposed to park in front of one because, in the case of a fire, your car might block access to it.
Now we know this little trivia fact as well. Nevertheless, the fire hydrant’s legacy remains, as does its widespread adoption, which contributes significantly to fire prevention efforts worldwide. The lost patent becomes a symbolic and somewhat amusing anecdote.
