#8: I [Don’t] Write the Songs
My parents were young during the 1970s, so they love Barry Manilow, and that means I grew up listening to him and have come to love him as well. His music is a little cheesy, but he’s got a great voice. But we’ve got an interesting fact about one of his most famous songs.

Barry’s recording reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but do you know that contrary to what the title suggests, he didn’t write it? His version is actually a cover; the original writer was Bruce Johnston, a member of the Beach Boys, and it had actually been covered a couple of times before Barry did it.
