#16: Extra Bacon
If there’s a lesson to be learned here, it’s that it pays off to visit restaurants right before closing time. It’s not uncommon for restaurants and bakeries to sell their leftovers cheaply at the end of the day, so that they won’t have to throw away and waste so much food. Yet, not all restaurants implement this policy.
Luckily for this person, who was struck with hunger late at night, the fast food chain Five Guys has this wise policy. For them, these strips of bacon are trash since they can’t save them for the next day—they will lose all their crunchiness. For him, this pile of bacon is treasure—and the best kind of treasure, since it’s free.
