Getting to your guac faster
There are plenty of memes floating around the web about avocadoes. Their association with spoilt Millenials, their connection with a certain Duchess, the elaborate brunch recipes scattered all over Instagram. Oh, and the fact that they only seem to be perfectly ripe for a 2-second window before suddenly being spoilt.
It’s true that waiting for your solid avocado to soften so that you can smash it on your homemade rye sourdough toast is boring. You also don’t want too many to go ripe at the same time, or you’ll be sick of guacamole. Keeping them in the fridge is a bad plan, though. Avo’s give off a chemical that encourages them to ripen, and they need to be at 68 degrees for this. A fruit bowl is a much better plan.
