Hiking trail
Sometimes tiny design details pass themselves off as purely aesthetic when actually they’ve been put in place for a really important or useful reason. As we saw with the hole in the soda can tab, designers really do try and think about everything when they’re creating a new product.
Take hiking backpacks as an example. The chances are that you’ve seen the little diamond-shaped leather patch on the back of your pack. This isn’t just for looks but is designed to be somewhere you can loop your shoelaces through to attach hiking gear, shoes, or any other equipment. It’s a pretty clever touch.
