That’s coming out of your pocket, tenant
There are certain things that the tenant should pay for out of their pocket. For instance, if your child colors all over the walls with crayons, the tenant needs to repaint the walls before leaving. However, if the plumbing is all wrong and causes the roof to collapse, whose fault is that? If it was a preexisting condition, it’s the landlord’s job to pay the repair costs.
That’s not what happened in this story. The tenant complained multiple times about the bathroom ceiling being on the verge of collapse. In the end, the tenants paid to have it inspected and repaired.
