#5: Helen Keller and Charlie Chaplin, 1918
Did you know that Helen Keller and Charlie Chaplin met at one point in time? We didn’t either until we saw this photo! Keller and Chaplin met on the set of Chaplin’s film Sunnyside in 1918, and they shared this wonderful moment. Keller, who was blind and deaf since infancy, is teaching Chaplin the manual alphabet.

Charlie Chaplin was a famous silent film actor and activist who often worked with hearing-impaired people to improve his physical acting skills for his silent films. Helen Keller was on a tour at the time and wanted to meet Chaplin during one of her tour stops. We’re glad someone got these incredible photos of this meeting!
