On the Subject of Makeup
Men have been neglected by the cosmetics industry, which has largely deemed most of its sophisticated features—particularly makeup—as feminine domains. Has anyone ever wondered why this is the case, or who arbitrarily assigned attractiveness to females?
When we discuss men and cosmetics in popular culture, we seldom hear from cisgender, straight males. Why is it that our misogynistic male-dominated society despises when men choose to put on makeup and make fun of them? However, if a woman does not apply makeup, she is called ugly and mocked.
