Unequal Casting Choices
Actors of a larger physique are rarely cast as romantic protagonists. However, when they are, people have noticed a double standard between the casting of male actors versus female actors in movies and television shows.
No one seems to mind when overweight male actors are cast as love interests opposite attractive women. Casting overweight actresses as leading ladies is uncommon in the first place, and when they do appear, they are more often paired with men who aren’t particularly beautiful.
