Joe DiMaggio – 1938 Goudie #274
You can probably tell that this card is unusual, but any Yankees fan will recognize Joe DiMaggio’s face immediately. “Joltin’ Joe” debuted in professional baseball with the New York Yankees in 1936 and remained with them for his entire 13-year career. The Yankee Centerfielder was a three-time MVP, two-time Batting Champion, 1939 ML Player of the Year, nine World Series champions, and was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1955.
Many of DiMaggio’s cards will sell for a significant amount of money. This portrait of DiMaggio with depictions in the background is quite fascinating, and it has an estimate of $200,000. Another variation lacks the extra figures in the background, but it is valued at $115,000.
