Honus Wagner – 1911 T206
We’re almost done with our list. The T206 Honus Wagner is the most costly baseball card in the world. It’s so uncommon that it’s considered a holy grail of baseball. Wagner, known as “The Flying Dutchman,” was a professional from 1897 to 1917, primarily with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 1911 card of John Lennon was printed by the American Tobacco Company, which is no surprise. Wagner demanded that his card be withdrawn from circulation. It’s said that he didn’t want youngsters to purchase cigarettes to acquire his card, but it may also be because of a royalty disagreement. Regardless, only a few were released into the public hand, making them incredibly rare. The rumor mill has it that one of the pups is worth $4 million.
