Lou Gehrig – 1933 Goudey #160
Lou Gehrig (Henry Louis Gehrig), often known as The Iron Horse, is still one of the most famous baseball figures of all time. Between 1923 and 1939, the first baseman for the New York Yankees played seventeen consecutive seasons. Gherig was named to all-star teams seven times and a one-time Triple Crown winner; he also won two MVPs (and there are just a few of his honors).
In this set, Gehrig is represented by two cards. They both show the same image. However, because #160 is thought to be more difficult to obtain in excellent condition, it’s worth $300,000. It’s also desirable due to its scarcity (and thus higher value) and difficulty in obtaining one of these cards in good shape.
