”What If”: Scientists Answer Mind-Blowing Questions That Make Us Challenge Our Imagination

January 1, 2023 by Brandy

We all wonder how our lives could be different if we took a certain job or got into a special relationship. Mostly, things would be relatively the same, with only minor differences. However, some scientists are more interested in the greater “what if” questions, and we’ve compiled a list of their greatest responses. From black holes to Neanderthals, here are some of life’s greatest mysteries and what the experts think could happen if these were real. Which one did you find the most surprising?

Black Hole

Thankfully, the likelihood of any humans falling into a black hole is very small. The nearest black hole to Earth is Gaia BH1, which is approximately 1566 light years away from us. Although scientists consider it in our “cosmic backyard,” we don’t face any danger of getting sucked into it.

Falling into a black hole would cause something known as “spaghettification,” which is just as you might expect. There are other people who believe that black holes are a portal to another universe, though I don’t think I’d like to take the chance to find out. I like my limbs the way that they are!
