June 20, 2021 by Elizabeth Grillo

While you can’t solve climate change with your backyard, you can do your part to grow some plants that are best for climate change. Perhaps you just bought a new home or have land that’s been sitting there wasting away.

It’s time to figure out a new way to use your land as a means to plant items that will be best for climate change. The plants and gardening tips we’re sharing today will inspire you to do some small steps in the yard as a means to reduce the impact of climate change on our planet.

Reduce Gasoline Powered Lawn Tools

The first thing you can do with the yard work to reduce your carbon footprint and help the climate is to use less gasoline-powered lawn tools! You can find the antique mowers and have someone local sharpen the blades, along with using solar-powered tools for the yard and garden to help the planet.

Grow Eco-Friendly Plants

You can make plans to plant flowers that encourage pollinators to arrive in your yard. You can grow a garden that’s only for wildlife. This would be grown further away from the main part of your yard, and is a perfect idea for anyone with farmland!

Use Compost

Don’t forget the importance of reusing kitchen scraps to grow your favorite backyard plants. You can make a backyard compost pile with kitchen scraps and old leaves. This will help the environment because you won’t be using harsh pesticides to help your plants grow in the backyard.

Some Plants that Help with Climate Change

Now, here are just some of the plants you can grow in the backyard to help minimize the impact of global warming on our planet:

  • Trees & Shrubs
  • Goldenrod
  • Sunflowers
  • Snapdragons
  • Bee balm
  • Hyacinth
  • Cosmos
  • Verbena

This is just a fabulous way to start doing your small part to help with climate change in the backyard. You can plant trees to help reduce carbon dioxide and flowers to promote the pollinator’s favorite flowers to get them to your backyard.
