Why does Science Change over the Years

October 13, 2022 by Regina Clarke

Science is constantly evolving. Theories are developed and then discarded as new evidence is discovered. Why does science change over the years? Some people might say that it’s because scientists are constantly trying to prove themselves wrong. Others might say that it’s because we are always learning more about the world around us.

Whatever the reason, science is constantly changing, and that’s a good thing! In this blog post, we will discuss some of the reasons why science changes over time, and we will also talk about some of the benefits of scientific progress.

One reason why science changes over time is that new evidence is constantly being discovered. For example, when Darwin first proposed his theory of evolution, he did not have access to all of the evidence that we have today. Over the years, new fossil discoveries have helped to support his theory and fill in some of the missing pieces.

Another reason why science changes over time is that our understanding of the world around us is constantly improving. As we learn more about the universe and how it works, our theories about how things work will change as well. For example, Newton’s laws of motion were once considered to be true without exception. However, Einstein’s theory of relativity has shown us that there are situations where Newton’s laws do not apply.

Lastly, another reason why science changes over time is that scientists are constantly trying to prove themselves wrong. This might sound counterintuitive, but it’s actually a good thing! If scientists only ever tried to confirm their hypotheses, they would never make any progress. By constantly testing their theories and looking for evidence that disproves them, scientists are able to identify weaknesses in their theories and make them stronger.

So why does science change over time? There are many reasons, but one of the most important things to remember is that scientific progress is a good thing! Every time our understanding of the world around us improves, we all benefit from it.
