All’s Fair in Love and War
Do you ever fight with your life partner? Of course you do. Couples fight. It’s a thing that happens when you’re in close quarters with another person. Rather than yelling, some people develop passive-aggressive code language. Passive aggressiveness is arguably worse than simply yelling and airing stuff out, which can then be dealt with and solved.
“With all due respect” is basically non-southern “bless your heart,” like in this couple’s case; it’s a way of saying something less than respectful subtly. Hopefully, these two can start communicating their wants and needs through methods that are less passive-aggressive, but if it works for them we guess it’s fine. Usually, though, these are the kind of couple where one says “Oh we never fight!” Meanwhile, they never work out what they disagree on.
