Beverly Owen.
Iowa-born Beverley Owen, like many other young women her age, dreamed of having a successful career when she grew up. Beverley uprooted her life and relocated to New York with the hopes of launching a career in acting. Owen worked as a typist in the 1950s, which was one of the most common employment for women at the time. Receptionist was the other common job for women.
However, it would appear that she was better at reading lines than typing them, and as a result, she was terminated from her position at CBS due to her poor typing skills. After being chosen to play Marilyn Munster in the pilot episode of The Munsters, she saw a significant boost in the success of her career. After only 13 episodes, the show’s creator and producer, Jon Stone, tied the knot with the woman who wore the blonde wig, Beverley.
