Controlling the population
Over the years, black bears have been hit particularly hard in New Jersey. The state houses thousands of these wild animals, any one of which could pose a threat to human lives if they venture too close to civilization.
Because there are so many black bears, the government orders a hunting season annually to manage the population. Hundreds of black bears are hunted every year, and unfortunately, in 2016, Pedals became one of these statistics after catching a hunter’s attention.
