Our world is full of amazing wonders, and some of them exist right under our noses, totally invisible to the human eye. Thankfully, with the help of a microscope, we’re able to see things up close and get a better understanding of our bodies and the things around us. Well, we might not get a better understanding since we’re no scientists, but we can still enjoy these images. Today, we’re taking a trip through the world of magnified images that might just change the way you see the world.
#1: A Cracked Piece of Steel
Anyone who takes one look at this photo will tell you it’s the Grand Canyon. It sure looks like the world-famous natural wonder, but it’s actually a microscopic image of a crack in a piece of steel. Steel may be one of the strongest metals known to man, but it is still susceptible to cracks.

This image was taken with an electron microscope and has been colorized after the fact. So, it’s totally fair to mistake this steel crack for a real-life image of a desert canyon. They even put a bright blue sky in the background to make it more confusing.
