How much you should know about our planet? Here are some interesting facts about planet earth everyone should be familiar with (and some interesting facts to share around the dinner table):

3rd Rock from the Sun (Not the TV show)

Planet Earth is the third one from the sun. It’s the only place known to support an atmosphere that can sustain free air, oceans on the surface, and life. Also, it has a rocky surface.

Earth is a squashed sphere

Earth isn’t a perfect sphere, and the gravity creates a centrifugal force. However, the gravity-opposing force creates a unique look. The imbalance adds up in the equator causing extra masses of water and earth into a “spare tire” around the Earth.

The planet has a waistline

Mother Earth unique waistline because at the equator, the circumference of the globe is 24,901 miles.

Earth Constantly Moves

Even though you feel like you’re standing still, the other spine through space at over 1,000 miles per hour. People on the equator move the fastest, while those around the North or South pole are still.

The planet moves around the sun

Not only does the Earth spin, but moves consistently around the sun at a rate of 67,000 miles per hour. Talk about a planet rotating cooker.
