This question of whether or not it is possible to live on Mars has been asked more often than not in recent years. This may be due to the increase in space exploration and new rockets being built by private citizens.
Whatever the reason, we wanted to discuss this topic in more detail today so that you can understand if it is possible to live on Mars or not.
Reduced Air Pressure
The surface of Mars has reduced air pressure. This means human beings wouldn’t be able to breathe the air in this area. We would suffocate, without some form of air to breathe.
Radiation Exposure
Mars has higher levels of radiation that can be dangerous to human beings. Without knowing what to do about the radiation levels so that they’re better for humans, we can’t send our people up to Mars yet.
Too Cold
Not only is there reduced air pressure and risk of too much radiation exposure, but the surface of Mars is colder than what human beings are used to handling. This means we would freeze to death if we were to hop onto Mars today!
Not Great Gravity
The gravity on Mars is 38% less than Earth’s. We would have to get used to living with lower gravity if we were to survive as a species on Mars. This low gravity would cause major health and bone issues within the humans that tried to live on the red planet.
Landing Isn’t Easy
While Mars and Earth are relatively close to each other, being just a 260-day trip, the landing part is a bit tricky. We have yet to figure out a way to land on Mars when there are humans on board a spacecraft. This part will take some time before humans can land safely on the planet.
As it stands right now, it is not possible for humans to live on Mars with the atmosphere there the way it is currently. In time, we feel that it will be possible for human beings to live on Mars. It will take much time and more exploration to figure out what life will be like on Mars for those who are able to live there and be the first humans living on Mars.
