Cast Members Write Their Own Material
In contrast to many other programs, the ensemble of the show is required to craft their own scripts. This has provoked frustration among some cast members, whose sketches are often left on the cutting room floor. In fact, this very issue has led to the temporary walkout of the iconic Larry David, adding a dash of real-life drama to the mix.
Rachel Dratch, a veteran of the cast, once revealed a candid behind-the-scenes secret, “I believe many underestimate the immense amount of self-scripting that is required. If you can’t navigate this creative labyrinth, you’re promptly handed your farewell note.”
