When designing a new product, there’s a whole process that comes with it that takes months, sometimes years, to perfect. Something as small as a misspelled word on a billboard or a poorly thought-out design can mean all the difference in how successful your product will be. Especially in today’s world of social media perfection, seeing things out of place can feel odd to our senses. If you are interested in design, maybe you should be taking notes on exactly what not to do.
#1: Read Between the Signs
We are told our whole lives to look out for signs, whether road signs, signs at school, or metaphorical signs that can be a little harder to comprehend. However, one very important thing when it comes to signs is their execution. There is no point in having a sign meant to help the public, but in reality, it doesn’t help anyone because it is so unclear.
At first glance, this sign makes absolutely no sense and makes you think you should do the opposite of what it intended to say. But when you look a little closer, you can understand that it is the placement of whatever that thing is in the middle of the signs that messes everything up. At least they color-coded the words.
