There are many fad diets out there that you can try to use as a means to eat and drink smarter. If you’re someone who isn’t good about sticking to a strict diet though it may seem like a ridiculous idea. That’s why we wanted to feature some simple ways to eat and drink smarter today.

These tips will help everyone learn new ways to make healthier eating choices throughout their day without having to commit to a strict diet plan. Just making one choice to remove something unhealthy from your diet every day will significantly improve your health and mood.

Remove Whole Milk

Switching from whole milk to 2% or 1% milk will reduce your daily fat intake tremendously, especially if you’re an avid milk drinker. Try to slowly mix whole milk with the lower fat milk option to get your taste buds used to the difference in texture and flavor between the whole milk and 1% or 2% milk options.

Start to Love Seeds and Nuts

Unsalted seeds and nuts help increase fiber and potassium but do pack a high-calorie count. That’s why it’s best to swap out your unhealthy treats for a handful of seeds and nuts. Exchanging your current unhealthy snacks with seeds and nuts will help you eat smarter in between meals.

Stop Salting Food

Do yourself a favor and try your food before putting salt on it. You may not love the flavor right away, because you’re used to salting up your meals. Eventually, you’ll be able to enjoy a meal without adding salt to it.

Eat Five Fruits or Veggies

Commit to eating five fruits or five veggies every day. Sneak them in as snack sticks with lunches and breakfasts. This is an easy way to start eating and drinking smarter without much effort. Cut all of your veggies into sticks and keep them in an airtight container so you can quickly grab one to eat on the go.

As you can see adjusting just a few things in your life won’t be stressful, and can be something everyone in your family will be able to try to so that you’re all on the same page with losing weight and eating healthier.
