With so much of the world on lockdown in 2020, we’re starting to see an influx in some of the best environmental stories from that year being discussed. We’ve noticed that wildlife is flourishing and the carbon levels have gone down.
While this is all great news, we wanted to feature the top environment stories of 2020 that we deemed most important to feature on this site today!

Species Coming Back
There were many species that were on the brink of extinction that are now slowly returning from that state. These species include, but are not limited to, a wading bird from New Zealand, New Guinea Singing Dog, Burmese roofed turtles and Loa water frogs.
These species were on the brink of extinction but thanks to researchers and other aggressive programs, many of the species are now coming back as of 2020.

Renewable Energy Interest Increases
We’ve seen an increase in the interest of renewable energy versus fossil fuel energy as of 2020. With more demand of solar, wind, and smart grids many people have moved away from fossil fuels and are starting to find new ways to heat their home or water with renewable options.
For the first time in 92 years, ExxonMobil has lost its place in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. There are many governments starting to work towards banning gasoline and other vehicles in the next 10 -15 years which is helping increase the interest in renewable energy.

New Conservation Areas Created
During the pandemic of 2020, more conservation areas were created and financed. This helped preserve and create more lands for various species and plants that were otherwise going to disappear from Earth.
Many countries like Myanmar, Nigeria, and New York City created and financed new conservation areas of land and forests to protect nearly instinct species and plants.
These are just some of the most important environmental stories of 2020 to share with you. We hope that it inspires you to see all of the good that was completed this year during the pandemic, even while humans were having a difficult time. We were able to do some good.
