Why Does Earth Have Seasons?

Do you know why Earth has seasons? It’s because the planet’s axis is tilted! The tilt of the Earth’s axis causes different parts of the planet to be exposed to the sun at different times. When one hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, that hemisphere experiences summer.

When the other hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, that hemisphere experiences winter. In this blog post, we will discuss why Earth has seasons and how they are caused by the tilt of our planet’s axis.

What is season in simple words?

Season is a time of the year when the climate changes. There are four seasons on Earth: winter, spring, summer, and autumn.

The changing seasons are caused by the Earth’s tilt on its axis. The Earth’s axis is an imaginary line that goes through the North and South Poles. As the Earth orbits around the sun, different parts of the planet are tilted towards or away from the sun. This causes summer and winter.

During summer, the days are longer and the nights are shorter because the Earth’s tilt causes one hemisphere to be closer to the sun. The closer proximity to the sun results in more direct sunlight and higher temperatures.

Conversely, during winter, the days are shorter and the nights are longer because the Earth’s tilt causes one hemisphere to be further from the sun. The further distance from the sun results in less direct sunlight and lower temperatures.

So, why does Earth have seasons? As we mentioned before, it all has to do with the tilt of the Earth’s axis. The Earth’s axis is tilted at an angle of about 23.50 degrees. This tilt causes the planet to be exposed to the sun at different times throughout the year.

When one hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, that hemisphere experiences summer. This is because the sun’s rays are more direct and intense in that area. The increased sunlight results in warmer temperatures.

Meanwhile, when the other hemisphere is tilted away from the sun, that hemisphere experiences winter. This is because the sun’s rays are less direct and intense in that area. The decreased sunlight results in cooler temperatures.

So, the tilt of the Earth’s axis is what causes the planet to have seasons. As the Earth orbits around the sun, the tilt of its axis changes and this results in different parts of the planet being exposed to sunlight at different times. This change in exposure creates our seasons here on Earth!
