Prison Politeness
While there are plenty of opportunities for inmates to be disrespectful of one another, some inmates find that their fellow prisoners are some of the nicest people they have ever met. The inmate in this story tells that even the slightest inconvenience or accident was always accompanied by an apology.
Perhaps the reason why inmates are so willing to apologize is out of fear. After all, crossing the wrong criminal in prison may be the last mistake you ever make. But regardless of the motivation, some prisoners do appear to be even more polite than those outside of the system.
