We all complain about our jobs from time to time, no matter what they are. It’s only natural to complain about your job, but after seeing some of these obsolete jobs people used to have, you’ll probably be thankful for yours. From milkmen to radio actors, professional rat-catchers, and even soda jerks, there are many jobs that have become obsolete in the modern world and no longer exist, and we’re having a hard time believing they were so prevalent at one time in history.
#1: Icemen (Or Women)
Back in the 1800s, two centuries before Frozen came to theaters, Iceman was a real profession. Also known as ice-cutters, as the name suggests, their job was to cut ice. You might be surprised to hear that despite the spirit of the time and the physical work this occupation entailed, you could also find ice girls.

The Icemen didn’t just cut ice, but they would also produce, deliver, and sell ice. Basically, they were in charge of all your ice needs. If you’re a Disney fan, you might be familiar with this obsolete occupation from the hit animated film Frozen (and its sequel), where Kristoff learns the profession.
