#42: Badger
Perhaps the biggest perk of working as a badger was the funny name, and getting to tell your coworkers “don’t badger me.” We’re not talking about the animal, but a job that was prevalent in the past. Badgers were the middleman between farmers and customers. At that time, farmers didn’t sell their goods directly to people and markets, but used the help of the badgers.
The badgers bought the farmers’ crops and later sold them at the local markets for higher prices. In order to be a good badger, you had to know your math. While this profession is gone from our society these days, it’s not completely unheard of to use “middleman” in different fields – even real estate agents can be considered middlemen of sorts.
