The Intricate World of Cashews
Devoted followers of the classic tale “Alice in Wonderland” may find a familiar sight in these flora, strikingly reminiscent of the whimsical dancing mushrooms. The vibrant crimson hue appears uncannily similar! In the real world, these are not figments of a fantasy but cashews, hailing from the bountiful branches of the cashew tree. Interestingly, what we commonly refer to as ‘nuts’ are actually derived from the tree’s apples.
In an unexpected twist, it’s not the apples but the nuts, plucked from the fruit’s base, that take center stage in our story. The humble cashew apple, often overlooked, hides a multitude of uses behind its unassuming facade. Interestingly, during the resource-scarce times of World War II, these seemingly insignificant fruits played a surprising role in the production of weaponry!
