Though sometimes we simply need to let out a string of obscenities to relieve anger or tension, it’s not always the right thing to do – especially if there are children present. This is why most of us have come up with substitutes for cursing that don’t use actual profanity.
Every European country has its own code words that adults use to curse around kids, as you can see from this map. These code words are all slight variations of the actual curse words.
