#23: Listen to Children
Parents play a huge role in making sure their kids get the medical attention they need. Sometimes, even with the best intentions, it’s easy to underestimate or overlook a child’s complaints – especially if the injury isn’t visible or their symptoms seem vague. But children rely on their parents to be advocates for their health.
While they likely had their child’s best intentions at heart, you can see how easily things can fall through the cracks. The back pain from a swimming injury was downplayed, leading to devastating impacts in the following years. Even well-meaning parents can unintentionally miss important signs of injury. Persistent pain deserves serious attention.
