#28: Adults Need to Trust Children
Kids aren’t known for faking it when it comes to pain. That urge to play and push boundaries usually overrides minor discomfort. So, when a child constantly complains, something likely IS wrong. It’s understandable that parents sometimes brush it off as laziness or attention-seeking, but sometimes, those cries for help point toward a real problem: crying out for medical attention.
And that is what we see in this devastating example. Their parents thought they just wanted to get out of softball, but in fact, it was the pain from undiagnosed scoliosis. Sadly, that resulted in more than just a missed season on the field. Even though kids might pretend that it was their sibling who broke a vase, when it comes to pain, it’s best to believe them.
