#24: Know the Warning Signs
We all know about FAST for strokes, how to administer CPR, and which side to stab an Epi-pen… but for many conditions, those urgent warning signs get less public attention. Maybe that needs to change. What if we taught everyday people warning signs for a wider range of medical conditions, emergency or otherwise? How many lives could be saved like that?
Take brain tumors, for example. As we see in this heartbreaking story, the symptoms (hand spasms) were perceived as a tic instead of an early warning sign, and the tragedy eventually struck. Imagine the devastation of this family; it’s hard not to wonder if recognizing less widely known medical emergency signs could have changed the outcome.
