Language Loophole
It looks like language barriers can work in your favor when it comes to the law. Who knew? Take this clever Kingston resident, for example, who managed to dodge a $350 public drinking ticket simply by demanding a trial in French. Because there were no French judges in Canada, the authorities would have had to bus him and the cop who wrote the ticket out to Toronto and put them up in a fancy hotel.
It’s like a legal game of chicken, and this guy came out on top. Sure, he may not have actually spoken French, but who needs to speak the language of love when you have a loophole up your sleeve? Hats off to this crafty Kingston resident for outsmarting the system, one language barrier at a time.
