George Hicks’ Home: Hick’s Court, St Ives, England – 1888 vs. 2021
Isn’t it incredible how a little color and setting change can transform a photograph? It’s difficult to imagine being there or comprehending what colors are supposed to be. However, everything comes alive when you combine it with a color photograph!
The names of the streets are derived from famous historical figures, and this one is no exception. George Hick, the Victorian-era painter and society portraitist, resided here between 1611 and 1624, hence the name Hick’s Court. There’s even a plaque beside the archway that states this was his home. How fantastic that this piece of history has been preserved in 2021!
