Body shaming goes beyond gender and weight, and unfortunately, it is still very much connected to racism. Shaming people of color for their hair, the color of their skin, noses, or mouths is probably the oldest type of body-shaming. To this day, many people suffer from hurtful comments about trivial things like their hair type.
Rising star Zendaya was a victim of racism and body-shaming at the 2015 Oscars. While it’s sad and unbelievable this would happen in this day and age, Zendaya’s courage and confidence to stand up for herself showed everyone the world is changing and people are not afraid to be who they truly are anymore.
