Never Eat in the Street
Street food is named as such for a reason, isn’t it? It’s food that you buy on the street and then proceed to, you know, eat on the street. The system works! Well, we’re sorry to report that Japan disagrees. The concept of proper respect is ingrained in every aspect of Japanese culture, and food is no exception.
Eating on the street is therefore considered disrespectful to the people who made or grew the food. Taking that snack with you to eat on the train? Wrong again, that’s also considered rude. Either eat it at home or right where you bought it.
