#33: Bathophobia
Bathophobia is a fear of depths. People with bathophobia often describe it as feeling overwhelmed by the physical presence of a large depth in a body of water. Even if you don’t experience bathophobia on a regular basis, you might feel freaked out by this story. Someone was free diving with a group of divers when he decided to do some exploring on his own. Se soon regretted that decision.
He was checking out some coral and having a good time when he suddenly turned around, expecting to see the rest of the group. Instead, he saw that he was extremely close to a sharp drop-off of the ocean floor. Seeing the sandy ocean floor drop off so suddenly into a dark and murky depth scared him so badly that he swam away as fast as he could. That was when he realized he was terrified of the ocean!
