Polus Utilitatis
Did you know that dandelion’s scientific name is taraxacum? That doesn’t sound nearly as romantic. It’s fun to study scientific plant names, especially when you discover that ordinary plants near you have more interesting names. Of course, half of them are hard to pronounce, but that’s neither here nor there.
With their incredibly cute little plant labels, the owners of this garden are rather intelligent. The most amusing aspect of this is that the power line was also labeled. “Polus utilitatis” has a tall trunk and branches made of electricity lines, and woodpeckers are known to peck holes in its trunk.
