#16: Just Imagine What’s Below!
That spire you see in the middle photo? It’s the famous Burj Khalifa, a skyscraper over half a mile tall, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It’s the tallest building in the world, and the only way to avoid it is never to travel to Downtown Dubai. The structure itself is made from reinforced concrete, aluminum, and steel.

Strangely enough, much of the steel used was originally part of the Palace of the Republic in East Berlin. The fountain system, alone, cost a mind-boggling $217 million, so hopefully, you aren’t scared of large numbers as well. The building itself? $1.5 billion. It’s a mixed-use building holding shops, offices, and living areas.
