While megalophobes might be put off, the rest of us have to feel a little bad for this tree. It’s so far above the rest! This is a California redwood, a type of sequoia that grows 2-3 feet per year in the right conditions. Apparently, this one is pretty happy to be amongst all the pines.

These trees can grow up to 250 feet tall, with a 30-foot diameter. In comparison, those pines you see only grow about 30-50 feet tall. Both trees are indigenous to California, but many people confuse the California Redwood Sequoia with the California Giant Sequoia because they’re similar in height, but they have many differences.
