Is $1 in 2021 worth $20.21?
For whatever reason, someone was searching for the current value of a $1 bill from 1934. Turns out that it’s currently worth $19.32, the same figure as the year it was printed. So, following the formula and discounting basic economics, a dollar from this year should be worth $20.21, correct?
No, that’s not how it works. There’s a lot that goes into converting historical money into its current value. We’re not going to get into it because we don’t know. However, it is pretty coincidental that the year the dollar was printed is its current value. Or is this one huge conspiracy to keep millennials from owning homes? Do the research.
