#21: Everything Happens for a Reason
The circumstances that led this 6-month-old dachshund-boxer-beagle mix to be left in a locked car on a hot day are unclear, but something good ultimately came out of it. The fire department of East Haven, Connecticut, found the puppy in a near-burning car and rescued him, which led its owner to surrender him to the local animal shelter.
But the story didn’t end there. The firefighters and the puppy formed an immediate connection, and they decided to adopt him as the official support dog of the fire station. And it gets even better: they held a contest to determine the puppy’s new name, and Riggs was voted. That’s the story of how Riggs found a new and much more loving home with the local fire department.
