There are a lot of technological advancements that have benefitted society greatly, and then there are some technological advancements that just seem to make our everyday lives harder. You know what we’re talking about: touchscreen interfaces. If you’re not a fan of these touch screens, you’d be happy to hear that carmakers like Volkswagen are reintroducing physical buttons in their vehicles due to increasing driver dissatisfaction with touchscreen interfaces.
While touchscreens were once hailed as modern and sleek, many drivers have voiced concerns about their safety and functionality. For one, touchscreens can be distracting to use while driving, and they can be less intuitive than physical buttons. In response to these concerns, VW and other automakers are reevaluating their design choices, opting to bring back tactile controls for essential functions like climate control and audio settings.
