#27: That’s Good News
Teen pregnancy rates have shown a remarkable and positive trend of decline across the United States in 2023. According to a recent analysis by Child Trends, birth rates among female teens have plummeted by an impressive 77% over the past three decades. This decrease reflects significant strides in sexual education, increased access to contraception, and a growing awareness of the importance of delaying parenthood until individuals are better prepared emotionally and economically.
Jennifer Manlove, a researcher with Child Trends and co-author of the analysis, underscores the significance of these findings. The declining rates of teen pregnancy not only indicate improved reproductive health outcomes for young people but also highlight the efficacy of comprehensive sex education and accessible healthcare services in empowering teens to make informed choices about their futures.
