#31: Fathers Aren’t Babysitting Their Kids
The outdated notion that mothers have the primary responsibility for caring for children needs to be abandoned. Fathers play an equal and essential role in parenting, and they are far more integral to parenting than just “helping.”
Viewing fathers as secondary supporters to the mother diminishes their involvement and contributions to the child’s life. However, it also reinforces stark differences in roles based on gender and creates an unequal family dynamic. Fathers should have the same expectations and responsibilities that mothers have when it comes to raising children.
