#47: For the Adventurer at Heart
Stairs, plus mountains, plus cliffs, is an absolute nightmare. This mountain is located in Colombia and boasts 659 steps. It’s called El Peñón de Guatápe (The Rock of Guatape), and regardless of how daunting it looks, people claim you can climb it in only 15 minutes. In the 1950s, a group of friends got together and climbed to the top using nothing but repelling gear, and the stairs were later added.

This massive monolith is a huge tourist attraction, and despite Colombia being known for less than welcoming attitudes towards tourists, the local town embraces people of all cultures. If you’re looking to visit Colombia, this is a must-see stop! I’ll wait at the bottom, though.
