Urban Planning with a Twist: Nifty Gadgets That Should Be in Every City

France takes city cycling very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that they have special crosswalks created just for cyclists. If you take a look at this photo, you’ll notice that the crosswalk is absolutely huge. That’s way more room for pedestrians than any American crosswalk we’ve seen! Way to show off, France.

The thing that’s so neat about this crosswalk is the inclusion of a bike lane. The area for bikes to cross the street is clearly marked with large cyclist symbols. They even have separate lanes for riders going in different directions. The more room a city gives for pedestrians to move around freely, the safer it is for everyone.
