This finger has me wondering if it belongs to someone from Middle-Earth, some innocent hobbit who came into close contact with an evil ring of power that got the better of him and left its mark. It seems to me to be the only possible explanation for what appears to be some kind of curse.

Of course, it could always be due to some far-fetched explanation, like the blood vessels being in a spasm and blocking blood flow, but that sounds way too outlandish to be viable. I think we’ll assume that we’re dealing with one of the Shire-folk.
